Become a USATF MEMBER...COMPETE
The Wisconsin USATF Junior Indoor Track and Field meet will be held Sunday February 10th, 2013 at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. Youth Meet starts at 11am. This is a great way to throw some Shot Put and see where you are at before the season begins. Carthage has a beautiful indoor facility, check it out. Once you become a USATF member you are set for summer meets as well.
1. You must become a USATF member to compete in the meet. Its easy just sign up online HERE. It's only $20.00 a year. When you sign up you will want to enter Madison Throws Club as your club. The MTC club number is 20-0350.
2. Sign up for the Indoor Meet HERE. Cost: $6/event. Register by January 31 to avoid late fee.
Medals to the top 3 in each Age Division. T-shirts available for sale.
Age Divisions: Sub-Bantam - SB (born 2005 or later) (8-Under Division),
Bantam - B (born 2003- 2004) (9-10 Division),
Midget - M (born 2001 or 2002) (11-12 Division),
Youth - YTH (born 1999 or 2000) (13-14 Division),
Intermediate - I (born 1997 or 1998) (15-16 Division),
Young - YG (born 1995 or 1996) (17-18 Division),

I recently had the opportunity to attend John Godina's Phase II Coaches Course. It was a great day of learning about advanced rotational concepts in the throws. Lots of different Drills to correct common errors in the Rotational Shot and Discus.
I highly recommend Coaches attend his Phase I Course and Phase II Course if you have the opportunity.
And if athletes have the chance to attend his Phase I, Phase II Athlete Clinic or a World Throws Center Camp, I highly encourage you to sign up.
Advanced Rotational athlete's could try this drill it really forces you to work on staying on the right in the middle and not allowing any weight to shift to the left because you are doing an extra 180 turn at wheel past Power Position. Great Drill - very difficult - beginners beware...advanced throwers see if you have what it takes to match John's movement.

The International Olympic Committee on Wednesday stripped four track and field athletes of the medals they won at the 2004 Games in Athens for doping violations after reanalyzing their urine samples and detecting steroids.
“I heard rumors about Yuriy and doping at the Games,” Nelson said. “But I dismissed them. But now it comes to light that it’s true.”"
