For now here is what 2016 summer throwing with Madison Throws Club will roughly look like:

MONDAYS and WEDNESDAYS starting JUNE 13 - JULY 20

HAMMER           1:30-2:30pm  (limit 12)  ****FULL ** FULL *** FULL

WISCONSIN HIGH SCHOOL SEASON UNDERWAY...Early Season Leaders...

Some great throws to start the season this past weekend!
High lights : MTC's Landon Ellingson (Sr. Jefferson) had a big P.R. at the Nelson Daniels Classic. His throw of 56'7.75" is the second best throw in the state.
On the girls side MTC throwers are dominating the early State HONOR ROLL 9 of the top 20 throws in Division 1 are from MTC athletes!  Ella Shultz (Sr. West Allis Central) leads the State at 41'9".   It we've only just begun keep working hard!

Madison Throws Club would like to thank DAVE FIGI for his continued devotion to High School Track and Field in the State of Wisconsin!  His website wisconsintrackonline has been keeping track of the Girls State HONOR ROLL for over 20years!  On it you find the up to date girls honor roll in every event and so much more including links to the boys honor roll from Athletic.net.

Baumann and Long win NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

NCAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP weekend is always fun,  I think I wore out the refresh button as I was watched the live results of the DI, DII, and DIII meets all at the same time.  What made it even more fun was that a pair of Madison Throws Club Alumni came out on Top in their respective events

Kaitlyn Long (So. Winona State) defended her Indoor National Championship in the NCAA DII Women's Weight Throw.  Her winning throw 74'5.75" shattered the championship meet record of 69'0.75" and bested her own NCAA DII record of 73' 0".  She finishes the indoor season with the best throw in the nation in all divisions.

Theron Baumann (So. UW-Whitewater) bounced back in a big way from a tough WIAC conference meet that saw him scratch all 3 of his attempts in the shot put.  The WIAC meet will be a distant memory after Theron bested the field to win the NCAA DIII Men's Shot Put National Indoor Championship.  Baumann's throw of 58' 3" is collegiate career best and breaks his own UW-Whitewater school record.

HOW DO YOU STACK UP?
While you are at it check out how you stack up against some of these throwers.  Girls still throw 4k Shot Puts in college so High School GIRLS throwers can compare where they are at directly with these results.
High School BOYS throw 12lb shot puts and move to 16lb in college. I typically see an average drop off of about 2ft per pound from SR's in High School to FR in college.

I started a new YouTUBE Channel devoted to throwing drills. There are a lot of good sources out there already with great drills and throwing videos.  However, I hope that I can contribute in some way to the success of your throwing or your throws coaching.

MTC - New home in the Future ???

Could Madison Throws Club have a new winter home in Fitchburg, WI in the near future?  Time will tell. Check out the CapTimes article on the GK Sports and Entertainment group's proposal for a multi-purpose sports facility in the Madison Area.

One of the limiting factors of what Madison Throws Club offers its athletes is how often we can get gym space during the busy winter season.  Most gyms and fieldhouses are filled with Youth and High School Basketball games and practices leaving little time for a Track and Field training group.  this new facility could offer a solution.  The project has not been approved yet... so we'll have to wait and see.

WIAA State Discus Record Holder, LUKE SULLIVAN returns to Wisconsin for the 2016 LUKE SULLIVAN ALL-AMERICAN THROWS CLINIC at Madison Memorial High School March 12.

Just in case you missed it...CONGRATS to Winona State's Kaitlyn Long (SO.) on her National Record in the weight throw!  This might need updating...there are a lot of meets left in the season and the next, and oh the next after that!  Keep working hard! Madison Throws Club is so proud of you!
