As we move into shot put and DISCUS season, Madison Throws Club girls hold the TOP 5 SPOTS in the D1 Shot Put and 9 of the TOP 20. As well as the TOP 6 SPOTS on the D1 Discus list and 10 of the top 20.

Corinne Franz Wins Back-to-Back DISCUS titles
Corinne Franz won her second straight WIAA D1 Girls Discus Championship Friday night in LaCrosse. Her final throw of preliminaries of 143'10" was her best throw of the day, she had 3 other throws that were good enough to win the competition, which was competed in a terrible tail wind that did no throwers any favors. As both her club and high school coach, I have seen in person her hard work and dedication to Track and Field, in the circle and in the weight room. I couldn't be more proud!
MTC throwers completed a 1-2-3 sweep of the Girls Discus. Slinger's Kiley Sabin (jr) finished 2nd with a throw of 130'0", Hartford's Sam Noennig (fr) finished 3rd with at throw of 126'9".
MTC had several other athletes qualify for state and finish the year strong. Haley Houser 8th, Paige Day 11th, Abby Jankowski 18th.
With her second gold, Corinne completes a journey that started with Madison Throws Club the summer before her freshman year of high school but will continue at the University of DePaul next year.

Corinne's win in the discus is the 14th State Championship won by Madison Throws Club Throwers.
Corinne used her first throw (prelims1- 118'8") in the prelims as a safety throw to get a mark to qualify for finals, Her following 5 throws all bested the competition (prelims2 -137'5", prelims 3 - 143'10", finals4 - 135'2", finals5 - 137'6", finals6 - 137'6"). Corinne Franz Breaks Discus Record
Madison Throws Club's Corinne Franz, a senior at Madison Memorial High School set a new DISCUS P.R. at the Madison City Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Her throw of 145'6" broke the previous record of 136'1" set in 1992 by West's Natalie Overby by nearly 10 feet.
Corinne's throw also broke her own Madison Memorial School record and moves her to #20 on the Wisconsin All-Time list.

MTC's Samantha Noennig wins AAU discus National Championship
| Out of 83 discus throwers, SAM Noennig WON the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston! She had 4 legal throws and all were personal bests! Her best was 123'6" which was a 17.5 foot PR! Sam, I am so impressed with what you have accomplished in just your first summer of training. Keep working hard - and anything is possible. Molly Griep pushes Discus P.R.
Molly Griep (sr) Whitewater High School, has had big throws before...but Tuesday was a little different...this was a really big throw. Molly set a new personal record and school record in the discus with a throw of 149'11". Her throw moves her on to the ALL-TIME WISCONSIN HONOR ROLE with the #13 throw in state prep history. Griep a North Dakota recruit, has qualified for the WIAA State Meet every year in High School. Great job Molly!
